Wiring the KBAC-27d speed doubling feature to a switch

Wiring the KBAC-27d speed doubling to a switch on the front of your ac drive. I use a Dupont connector and a dpdt switch butva spdt switch would also work as I only use on pole/ side of the switch. Commonly advertised as an on-off-on switch.

Getting my single phase 240 volts in spec on a Baileigh Magnetic Brake using a SquareD buck boost transformer. The brake requires -10% of 220v so under 231 volts. I show how to research and wire the transformer you might need to get you in range.

I have a setup like yours now and im about to buy the changeover switch like the one you have here. I dont understand how its hooked up to the motors however. There is black/white/red and ground. How did you hook it up to the switch ? I cant seem to find any information online.
Friend me on facebook/messenger and I'll help you out. Mike Heidrick bloomington IL
How do you like the dust collector so far? Is there any problems with the filter system? I'm looking at a different collector but there is no filter system included so I was thinking of adding this one.
Are you running this on 110v with the vfd ?
This setup with the kbac 27d can run on 110v single phase or 220v single phase in. The baldors are 1.5hp ea. If I remember right it was up to 1.5hp on 110v and 2hp on 220v but really it more depends on the FLA of the motors vs hp.
Wow did it come with a VPS?
Vps? You mean vfd? I put everything together myself.
Do you still have/use this machine?
Yes. Love it
I wonder if it's possible to get foot controls for that. Very cool.
Absolutely. Just get a momentary switch foot pedal and wire its Normally Open contact to the Kbac-27d start stop. You will have to deal with start and stop timing.
What did you use to attach the unistrut to the existing holes? Thinking about the same idea for my Colorado 6' bed.
Would the KBAC-27D work on a single phase Baldor 410B?
No. Vfds (variable frequency drive) only work on 3ph motors.
That is INCREDIBLE. I'm gonna have to work on setting that up. Have you seen issues with the bolts loosening running the baldours in reverse? I'mm trying to set up a grinder for sharpening. :)
I really do not run it in reverse much honestly but id find a way to mitigate that if it does become an issue.
What is brand and model of 14x14 door,.or where to get it? Am getting quotes $8,000 for this size door for some reason. Awesome lift jack opener by the way!
I bought them from the amish that built my shed. Good to know. No way mine were 16000 as whole shed at the time was 29k for 40x64x16
Contact Daniel Stoltzfus at 1-765-238-7454 for a quote if in the midwest ohio Indiana il area. They did my shed.
Just gorgeous. So nice to have 3 phase motors esp quality Baldors.
Thank you! Used the grinder and wire wheels last night repairing a trailer and welding on some parts. If you search long enough you find great deals on them. Don't be afraid of them used, can't hardly kill 3ph versions. Only issue is if you get to 5hp the vfd prices go up quite a bit for a decent brand one. Also double check you can deliver the voltage required or you are going to need a transformer too. Some baldors are 460v only on the large ones.
So two years later how has this VFD controller held up? I’m all about more HP and 3ph is the only way with Baldor equipment. Those look like original Baldor 10” wheels, are they rated for 3600rpm?
The grinders are 1800rpm at 60hz. All are working amazing. A wire wheel gets used several times a week. The wheels are the same ones used on the 3600rpm models. Running two grinders and the buffer. Love that kbac 27d vfd.
@@bloomingtonmike thanks for the feedback!
Bruh…..how many outlets you got?! Good god!
In walls one hundred twenty 120v 20 amp, 80 30amp 230v, and two dozen 3ph 230v outlets. No four outlets next to each other are on the same circuit. Ceiling has another 4+ outlets. Any 8' of the shop can act like a stand alone full shop. There is air 360 degrees around the shop, ten air wall drops, and another 4 in ceiling. Compressors with dryers and after coolers and timed drains are in opposing corners and there is 320 gallons of air capacity plus the lines them selves. Air electric and vacuum drop from above benches, no cords or hoses dragging on edges of benches. Lot of planning in all this.
lol you sound like me very much my voice.... its weird OMG!
you have a pretty sick shop!
Thank you. Bit crazier since that video.
Wow the crickets are loud
Is the quality good with not having supports?
Nice job
Got enough screws lol
Over 17,500 in those walls.
What size building? Height?
16' under trusses

@@bloomingtonmike thanks for the fast reply! Any reason you rent sectional door over steel rolling?
@@drewmurphy2796 I am not really a fan of the method of sealing ive seen in cheaper rolling setups or the gaps at edges of them. I did not research better more expensive rolling options. I like the performance of these not to change. Plus works out that I suspended a 200" diag powered movie screen under this door frame lol. No wall space consumed and doors work with screen up or down.
That's pretty slick! BTW, I can't believe your ceiling height! I'd be happy to even have 8 feet in my shop.
Lol. I wish we had a shop variant of the google or Alexa systems that could give us all the ability to custom name them.
Wonderful setup
Pleasure to use them both!!
Thank you. Used it tonight. Love it!
How much does it cost you to run your system in the winter? I’m in the process of building a 1200 sq ft shop and was looking at that exact tankless water heater but was told it would run too often due to heating the water too fast and would overwork.
I have 2700 feet not 1200. You need to do the math and size you heater for your needs. If the water/floor is already at temp the system does not run. Time running is just enough to maintain temp. The system has two loops and the water is blended at the mixing valve. The person telling you that does not understand radiant floor heat setups or how these boilers work. Are they trying to sell you another system? Yawn. You do you. I am the one running this setup years later with no issues.
@@bloomingtonmike Cost per month? I like the look of your system and may copy it for my shop.
I've done the same thing with Alexa on dust collecting and lately she's been cranky, i think she's needing an internal cleaning take and clean out mic holes. I'm going to see if i can find Alexa buttons, i know they had some at one time. i'd rather have a small button close to the equipment, versus yelling across the garage at times like i do.
I have button on dc and a remote too. 3ph rpc has 9 hard wired start stop stations in shop and that outlet lets the phone be a remote. I want the phone to he a remote for my dc too. I remember the alexa buttons too. Maybe ill put those on the actual tools too. Thanks for idea.
Thanks mikey👍🏻

Is the dynapath 20 controls ok
Took it out and never used it. Still on the bench.
@@bloomingtonmike I have same machine just wonder how this mill performs
@@guypatts494 it works great. I did allin1dc centroid conversion. Wish it was fully enclosed but it is cheap for the performance.
Do u like that mill how does it work
Works great. 4500lb knee mill so massive for me. Its not a true VMC but this 2x the mass of a Bridgeport. A bed mill would be nice too but the ultimate is a fully enclosed vmc and that is what I would upgrade too. Centroid Allin1DC is an amazing controller and is truely fully encoded.
@@bloomingtonmike does the head swivel on that machine
@@guypatts494 mine would but i have it locked. It also extends. Its crazy heavy but moves amazingly. The machine is 4500lb!
good work but how did you do it?
Great setup! You mentioned that in addition to controlling it with your voice (Alexa) AND your cell phone through wifi, you also have a remote control. What product are you using to do this. For the life of me, I cannot find a product that is controlled by wifi AND it's own remote control. Thanks
Badass baldor
Thank you!
Beautiful Print!!, what is the Quality and shell settings that you have?
Now that is a very nice setup, I am scouting around for ideas for my 8 foot ceiling two car garage shop. Good idea using alexia if she ca hear you. Then you have the remote.
Is that a insulated door. I have a 14 x 14 door and was wanting to get a 8500
Yes. It actually specs just outside sqft spc on 8500 but works perfect. Next step up was double money so i took a chance. Make sure your door is correctly balanced and it works great.
Nice setup. I always wondered if you have the 3phase 3600rpm motor will you get good power at lower 1800rpm? I don't know much about three phase motors but I always wanted a wide range buffer that would do it all powered with a VFD. Anyway thanks for sharing your video what a nice setup.
Hi. You get full torque at anything at 6hz and above so it will have full power at 360 rpm on a 3600rpm motor.
your wheels are have too much tension see at 4:14
hi , would you recormend printing the skull and jaw separately?
I did. Made them as big as my printer could print.
That's a lot of polishing power!
Thank you.
Is this motor still working?
Yes sir works perfect. Soo smooth.
Pretty cool.
Who did your gutters?
This is exactly what I want to do to my 2500
Question: I just bought and cleaned up one of these machines and the x-axis jog is wonky and doesn't work on small increments and sometimes randomly changes direction....any ideas how I might fix this?
Nice print, brother! I really need to get one of those printers once I get a little more free time...
Pretty cool, Mickey😎👍🏻
I'm getting ready to do a mill similar to yours with Heidenhain ERO 120 500 encoders. Was wandering which encoders yours has.
Mine were already on the sem drives. Centroid sells some recommended ones too.
Mine has SEM servos also, they look exactly like yours. I can't find any info on the Heidenhain encoders to know which wire is what.
